Legitimate Work from Home Jobs

Working from home can be a great way to make some extra cash, end unemployment, or change careers. There are many legitimate work-at-home jobs. Some jobs require occasional on-site presence, but this will be largely determined by what you choose to do or not do. You can be as successful and busy as you want to be. If you are going for a full-time work-at-home career, you will want to market heavily and be available most of the day/evening. If you prefer to just take jobs as you have time in your schedule, you can do that too.

Fundraising

  • Pay varies widely depending on the type of fundraising and how much time you spend on it.
  • You are accountable for raising an agreed set objective by approaching neighborhoods, communities, and neighbors for charities and fundraisers.
  • You may also be called upon to fundraise through local business organizations and previous donors for ongoing giving.
  • You could also be called upon to arrange and run events like a walk-a-thon, community fair, or run a booth.
  • Fundraisers work with individuals, the community, charities, and corporations to raise awareness of the specific charity.

Party Planner/Wedding Planner

  • Pay can range on average between $15,000 and upwards of $100,000 annually depending on experience, time allotted to grow the business, and reputation.
  • Party planners plan and organize special events such as weddings, anniversaries, birthday, and bar and bat mitzvahs, retirement, and much more.
  • Planners work with clients to customize and design parties tailored to the type of event and the budget.
  • You decide if you want it to be a full-time or part-time job. However, when you get a job, you may have to work on it full-time until it is over. Basically, you set the time between jobs to make it work for your schedule in between. While on the job, you are more at the whim of the client and his or her schedule.
  • This is a great career for someone who is creative and has a flair for design, color, form, and has a knack for bringing people together and having fun.
  • You will also need to be extremely organized. Forgetting one detail could ruin an entire event.

Caterer

  • Pay can range from $22k-$75k annually or more.
  • If you love to cook and people rave about your food, you may want to consider doing some catering.
  • If you have trained to be a chef, you can probably start off by charging more and you can probably get bigger jobs from the start.
  • You would prepare food for events such as parties, weddings, and banquets. Depending on how much time and effort you want to put into it will determine how much money you make.
  • If you only want part-time hours and small jobs you will naturally make less. However, for single parents or stay-at-home parents, this might be a great way to help make ends meet without being away from your children 9 or 10 hours a day.
  • If you just want to do occasional jobs, you might only make an additional $5k a year, but if you are successful and want to expand and market yourself, you could make a great living. However, keep in mind the bigger you make it the longer hours you will work. If this is what you want, then reach for the stars!

  • Pay is between $12 and $16 an hour generally, but it all depends on the time you put in and how much expertise you have.

  • You will need to have training and certifications for doing this type of work. You need a strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, filling out forms, and technical medical coding procedures.
  • You will also need to be proficient with the computer, software programs, decent typing skills, and good interpersonal skills.
  • There are many fraudulent online companies that get you to buy their program and make it sound like they will hire you, but you may only get some basic information, a list of doctors, and some general idea how to start your own business.
  • You are better off going to an accredited vocational or trade school to learn medical billing and coding and get experience with a medical office first. Your employer then may allow you to work from home, or you can do the hard work of any entrepreneur and start your own business. Just do not fall for misleading ads.
  • The government, pharmacies, and major Insurance companies may also hire medical billing specialists and could be an opportunity to start your own business and seek out these contracts.
